The precious years of your life are like grains of sand in the fragile hourglass of time. Too quickly, they fall into the past and tomorrow is promised to no one. So stake your claim on the precious moments of each day least they slip away. Remember, that on the day you were born, you where given the miraculous gift of life and with it the birthright of self-determination. Know that in your struggle to find peace and contentment you are not alone and that disappointments and difficulties you face are merely a test of your faith and perseverance.
Know that surely, as the sun rises each day, you have the ability to change your life and to redefine your purpose for living. The Choice Is Yours Throughout the course of our lives, we make countless choices. Some are made with clarity and conviction while others are made sadly out of fear, ignorance or indolence. Most choices are of little consequence such as what to wear, what movie to see, or what to prepare for dinner. Some choices however, represent pivotal moments in time; and for better or worse, they will alter the course of our lives going forward. Choices are powerful agents of change, and the architects that shape our destiny. Changing the course of your life for the better is simply an act of your unfettered imagination where the opportunities for change are as limitless as the choices you are free to make. You can choose to move past your failures or disappointments and to seek solutions rather than seek refuge. You can choose to be courageous, to take charge and to settle never, for less than your heart’s desire. You can choose to deny or face up to the truth. You can choose to practice gratitude and relinquish resentment; You can choose to forgo self-centeredness and to act out of love rather than blatant self-interest. You can choose to be kind and patient, with yourself, as well as with others. You can choose forgiveness. You can choose to be the bearer of glad tidings or the crier of bad news. You can choose to move past loneliness, loss & despair and to wear a smile though no one is there. You can choose to stay the course when you want to give up and to see not half-empty, but half full, the proverbial cup. You can choose to be diligent, and to exemplify integrity and excellence in all that you do and say, But most of all, you can choose to believe, that whatever the odds, you can change the course of your life, beginning this very day. The choice is yours. Copyright © 2008 Sonny Carroll All Rights Reserved. A Soul Lost in Transition
You woke up this morning with the sense that for the most part, you where in it alone and the weight of this realization bore down heavy upon your heart and took hostage your spirit. For months, perhaps years, you’ve wandered about the uncharted terrain of a soul in lost in transition. You lay waste countless hours rummaging through the bits and pieces that comprised your world while memories of the past color your vision of the future with uncertainty. In secret silent moments, you ponder the significance of your existence and you question whether the phenomenon we call life is merely an illusion. I watch but say nothing. I’ve learned that my words will serve only to fall on ears made deaf by fear. Instead, I put my heart to pen, so that perhaps you will see that which you cannot hear. And that is, that life is truly an illusion made manifest by our beliefs, sustained by our egos and limited to a great extent by our self-imposed limitations. Moreover, that life is in fact an ongoing state of transition. Where each stage of life, along with the events that accompany it, presents to us an opportunity to take from the past what was good; to release that which no longer serves us, and to believe, beyond all reason, in the wonderful possibilities for a new and better way of life. The Tapestry of Life
A moonless night has descended upon the earth. The trees cloaked in black, stand starkly beneath a celestial canopy where hazy, grey, sponge painted clouds, tinged in lavender and diffused with pink, drift slowly across an indigo sky illuminated by the lights of a city just beyond the horizon. I walk alone, accompanied only by my sense of wonder and comforted by the primal sound of crickets that seems to me as the heartbeat of the night and where together with the sweet scent of moist earth and lush vegetation confirm the presence of life.
